2025 held many opportunities: to stretch, pivot, be still in discomfort, belly laugh, move through periods of creation, gain clarity on the mountain I am climbing, and be okay with a leaner professional season that opened up my engagement in two DEIB consulting programs.
I have had the good fortune to collaborate with two beautiful women: Corey Grant (for the past five years on all of BETA’s digital assets) and Kiana Lewis (for the past two years, whose copyediting genius has uplifted the text I’ve written and shared with you all). I’ve also worked with Ripple Impact and Cressio, which has allowed me to gain greater clarity about BETA’s business proposition and philosophy. I’ve even been called ephemeral in this approach (I’m still not entirely sure what that means).
I realize that building a system—in this case, the way well-being strategies are designed and implemented with inclusivity at their heart—requires engaging as many stakeholders as possible, especially those who will be affected by the offering. This takes time to chart the direction of an imagined future. It is not about replicating systems that further disenfranchise, but about cultivating systems that move, even if only a centimeter, toward the community of care (being prosocial) we desire to espouse.
Since December tends to be a busier-than-usual month for many, the invitation is to revisit any blogs you missed or to return to an inquiry question to help inform how you would like to embrace 2026.

Drum roll … Posts
Discovering Opportunities in Resistance (January 2025):
As I stepped into 2025, reflecting on what I long for and what I’m ready to release, this blog explored resistance with a dash of curiosity—not judgment—and used it to shape who we’re becoming. Instead of treating resistance as a flaw, what is it teaching?
January’s inquiry: What will you explore and give up to meet that longing well?
Resistance: a Catalyst for Change (February 2025):
I experience resistance as a signal—a gut-level tug that needs closer attention, not a flaw in my character. The constant hum of recommendations and the pressure to let AI write my words left me feeling flattened, unseen, and wary of the biases baked into these tools.
February’s inquiry: In these globally turbulent times, where is resistance most present for you?
Cultivating Connection and Strengthening Relationships (March 2025):
I’ve discovered that moving beyond transactional interactions demands self-awareness, courage, and a willingness to be vulnerable. It’s risky, yes, but the reward is a deeper, more trusting way of relating. Genuine connection takes curiosity, humility, and vulnerability.
March’s inquiry: How do we cultivate trust and connection in fractured systems?
The Art of Finding New Balance in the Midst of Chaos (April 2025):
Balance isn’t a fixed state; it’s a constant recalibration, like riding a skateboard and adjusting before falling. The synchronicities in life keep nudging us to realign with what we value most. Recalibration calls us to tune in, shift what no longer serves, redefine values, and guide ourselves back to center.
April’s inquiry: When you feel off-center, how will you recalibrate, like the person on the skateboard?
The Science of Employee Well-Being (May 2025):
Employee well-being isn’t a perk—it’s a strategic imperative. When well-being strategies are a system-wide priority, the data is clear: people show up more connected, more energized, and the organization grows stronger. It’s not an afterthought; it’s a commitment to build cultures where well-being is the engine of an organization.
May’s inquiry: What action will you take to improve the drivers influencing your workplace well-being?
Seeing, Hearing, Valuing: A Culture of Care (June 2025):
A culture of care begins with how we show up: choosing presence over speed and empathy over assumption. When people feel seen and valued, their well-being and performance rise together. A culture of care is both a powerful and practical leadership tool.
June’s inquiry: What will you prioritize to demonstrate that a culture of care is possible and necessary?
How We Live What We Speak (July 2025):
Empathy isn’t just paying attention—it’s attuning to another person with our full presence, even when it’s uncomfortable. The more we attune to our emotional landscape, the more capacity we have to meet others with genuine empathy.
July’s inquiry: How are we relating to the word empathy these days? And, more importantly, how are we living it?
The Cost of Pushing Through (August 2025):
Choosing rest and integrity over deadlines asks us to honor our energy and what we value. Sometimes what is needed is to reclaim rest as a strategy, not a failure.
August’s inquiry: If you’ve had a moment you wish you could redo, what wisdom did you gain, and how is it calling you to be courageous?
Presence > Performance: Self-Awareness Framing (September 2025):
Self-awareness is the foundation of leadership, and without it, even the best strategies fall flat. Thriving workplaces depend on emotional culture just as much as cognitive culture. When there is room for emotions—our own and others’—we create space for healthier relationships, clearer decisions, and a stronger culture.
September’s inquiry: What do you gain—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—when you’re in flow?
In the Margins of Change: Systems Thinking for a Shifting World (October 2025):
If I’m truly “built for these times,” then I’m being called to act more courageously. Lately, I’ve been asking what it really means to adapt with courage rather than simply react to uncertainty. Courageous leadership requires balancing critical thinking with emotional awareness and resisting the urge to “move fast” when the stakes are human.
October’s inquiry: How are you designing your future state, and what does your North Star represent now?
Becoming Who You’ve Been Dreaming Of (November 2025):
Reflection as an act of self-trust is a way to honor the defining moments of 2025 while dreaming boldly about 2026. As we prepare for 2026, give yourself permission to slow down, listen inward, and imagine who you’ll become. Commit to charting the next chapter with intention, courage, and clarity.
November’s inquiry: What are you dreaming of for 2026?

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2025, where will you place your attention to nurture what you wish for in the coming year? Whether through journaling, art, music (including the accompanying playlist), poetry, time in nature, or the support of trusted friends, take time to envision what you want to plant and see flourish.
Though our lives may be separate, our well-being is interconnected and interdependent. At the heart of BETA Coaching & Consulting’s work is a simple truth: well-being is universally sought but not universally accessible.
You’re also invited to complete the reflection card Dream a Little Dream. After you’ve filled in the card, if you feel so moved, please share it with me at novelette@betacoachingconsulting.com. I hope to create a montage that celebrates how we’re showing up—and growing—in community with one another.
Wishing you continued well-being!

Books that fed my mind and heart in 2025

My stack of books grew taller in 2025 and will likely take another year (or so) to finish. It was a tough decision to choose favorites from all the pages that fed my mind and heart. Many offered language that stretched my thinking or warmed my heart in new ways, reminding me that storytelling is such a connecting gift.
What did you read in 2025 that left you a little breathless—exhaling as your whole body tingled?
