Reflections of what is to be

In the January 2023 BETA e-newsletter, there was an invitation to imagine what might be possible for you in 2023. This included what is your heart calling for?, and how you might foster an inclusive well-being system for individuals and organizational well-being.

Taking stock of what you would like to achieve with a receptive and curious mind allows you to figure out where you are on your journey and how close you are to arriving at your destination. Paying attention to the clues that surface when you are present or reflecting might help you find the best way forward, along with the tools you have or might need to acquire.

As we enjoy the last days of summer, I invite you to reflect on your year thus far. Find a quiet spot, set aside all electronic devices, and put pen to paper to your journal as you respond to these questions:

  • Which accomplishment are you most proud of?
  • What practice has nourished you the most these past eight months?
  • What commitment would you like to make to yourself, for the remainder of the year?
  • Which members of your inner circle are supporting you, and who do you appreciate?

There are five additional questions in the introduction if you want to expand on this process.

It has been a fruitful eight months for me, personally and professionally, and at BETA Coaching and Consulting, we understand that work and life are not mutually exclusive. Well–being is not only an individual concern but also a business imperative. This is a snapshot of the 2023 journey for BETA Coaching & Consulting so far! We look forward to what the next four months have in store. Stay tuned for our big reveal later this year!

Book A Discovery Session

A discovery session is largely influenced by a kaizen process, a philosophy based on the concept that change for the better is fostered through small modifications that create improvements. The session is centered on learning about one another, including your values, goals, and processes.

The discussion will help determine our chemistry match and how collaborating will add value for you. There will be an opportunity to understand your needs and what is top of mind for you, especially what it is that you wish to improve upon. This is an opportunity for us to co-create a win-win partnership.

Some discovery session questions are:

  • What is your biggest challenge as it relates to ______?
  • How are you feeling about this challenge?
  • What about solving the challenge is most important to you?
  • How will you benefit from finding a solution to this challenge?

Burnett & Evans writes, “a well-designed life is a life that is generative – it is constantly creative, productive, changing, evolving, and there is always the possibility for surprise.” This sentence inspired me to think about what it might mean to live with wonder in this one precious life, which is not a still life but an abstract painting.

Designing Your Life is a guide to help anyone think like a designer by using a design process to figure out what you want and create the life you love. Although this approach can be applied to all aspects of one’s life, it is especially useful when building your job and career.

Starting where you are and with the freedom to choose, Burnett & Evans invite the reader to do things that may feel counterintuitive, like embracing curiosity, exploring their bias to action, reframing and bringing awareness to the situation, and radically collaborating.  Lots of resources are offered throughout the book. My favorite is the Good Time Journal – Activity Log, which explores energy-negative activities compared with the specific activities or behaviors that are engaging.

As you reflect on your 2023 aspirations, this book might be a wonderful source of inspiration to consider prototyping something you desire. Also, collaborating with BETA Coaching & Consulting might be helpful as well 😊!

I’m drawn to the process of learning – the possibilities it holds – of things yet to be realized. Continuously expanding the sphere of understanding is a delight that transports the imagination. I set high expectations for myself, which signals confidence in my capacity to deliver outstanding results. Completing the task is its own reward and that internal drive motivates the journey.
